Son Lux’s Ryan Lott has made four tracks from the Marathon soundtrack available to stream – check them out below.
In recent years, post-rock group Son Lux have scored the trippy Everything Everywhere All At Once and scrappy MCU blockbuster Thunderbolts*, but the band’s Ryan Lott has also been working on the soundtrack to Bungie’s first-person shooter Marathon.
The game was first announced back in 2023 and will finally launch next month (March 5) after being delayed from its original September 2025 release date. “Infil into the dark sci-fi world of Tau Ceti IV: A derelict colony rife with rival Runners, hostile UESC security forces, and unpredictable environments,” reads the game’s description. “As you scavenge its zones for valuables with a crew or alone, tense moments of exploration break into fast-paced PvP combat where gunplay is responsive, supplies are finite, and preparation is rewarded.”
“Exfil to advance your seasonal power, earn cosmetics for your achievements, and assemble stronger builds with your stolen loot. Then put your gear back on the line to seek even greater fortunes in your next run.”
Ahead of the full game’s release, Lott has shared four tracks from the official Marathon soundtrack on streaming – ‘Rhythm Of Writing Constellations’, ‘Focused Erasures And Sub-Routine Resets’, ‘We Stole A Moon’ and ‘Code Race (Extended)’.
Eagle-eyed fans have already noticed that the EP’s artwork confirms at least 15 more tracks will be released as part of Marathon’s soundtrack. It comes after Bungie released a shortened version of ‘Code Race’ and the nine-minute ‘Timeleach’ on their YouTube channel, which inspired fans to share their own remixes of the songs.
Despite Marathon being their new online multiplayer game, Bungie bosses don’t think it will replace Destiny 2. “We believe that Destiny 2 has a future, and the team working on it has been working really hard to understand what players’ needs are,” said game director Joe Ziegler in an interview with GamesRadar+. “But if you like Destiny, and you happen to like a lot of PvP sandbox experiences, and those are other games that you play, then we think that Marathon could be something very exciting for you.”
In other news, Kristen Bell is set to join the cast of Sonic The Hedgehog 4 as pink hedgehog Amy Rose.
