Euphoria creator Sam Levison has donated $27,000 (£20,030) to the GoFundMe campaign set up to help support the children of late actor Eric Dane.
On Thursday (February 19), Dane, also known for Grey’s Anatomy, passed away after what his family described as “a courageous battle with ALS”. He had first shared his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis less than a year ago.
Dane’s friend Mike McGuiness went on to set up a crowdfunding campaign to help raise funds for his daughters, explaining that “Covid and ALS did a number on his work life and he sadly couldn’t leave his family with the resources he had hoped”.
“Even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease,” the donation page reads. “As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric’s friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs.”
The GoFundMe aims to raise $500,000 (£370,933), with over $276,161 raised as of this morning (February 22). Now just over the halfway mark, one significant donation has come from Euphoria creator Levison, who, alongside his wife Ashley Levinson, submitted a $27,000 donation to the campaign – which you can visit here.

When the news of Dane’s passing was announced, Levinson said: “I’m heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend. “Working with him was an honour. Being his friend was a gift.”
ALS is a rare and terminal neurodegenerative disorder that results in the progressive loss of both upper and lower motor functions and muscles. It is currently incurable and progressively worsens over time.
Speaking about his condition last spring, Dane said: “I have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.
“I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week. I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”
Dane starred as Cal Jacobs, father of Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) in the hit HBO show, and the actor’s rep has confirmed to Peoplethat he filmed episodes of the upcoming third season before his passing.
Sydney Sweeney, who worked with Dane on the show, reposted a clip of Eric leaving a message for his daughters with the message, “Forever will love you”, while former cast member Barbie Ferreira posted a clip of the actor with a white heart emoji via her Instagram Story.
