Chris Hemsworth has called leaving America the “greatest decision” he’s made, after moving his family from LA to return to his native Australia.
The Marvel star was speaking on the Smartless podcast on Monday (February 23), where he spoke about moving with his wife Elsa Pataky and their three children to a “big farm” Down Under over a decade ago.
“It was right around the time my boys were born, and it was just, we kind of were set up in LA and not enjoying it, you know?” he said. “Like nothing was shooting there. We were filming kind of everywhere else and then… you’d come home and paparazzi and all the sort of the trappings of, you know, living in that space.”
He then enthused about the life he lives currently. “You know, when you come back from work, you wanna go on a holiday? Like coming home for me is — it feels like a holiday” he said. “We have a big farm and horses and motorbikes and surf.”
Hemsworth and his family have lived in New South Wales’ Byron Bay since 2015, four years after he shot to fame as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He has played the character four times in solo projects, as well as appearing in all four Avengers movies. He will soon return to the role in December’s Avengers: Doomsday.
Recently, the actor starred in drama Crime 101, leading an all-star cast including fellow Avenger Mark Ruffalo and Barry Keoghan. The soundtrack featured a wealth of big names too, including tracks by Bruce Springsteen and Run The Jewels.
