Trent Reznor has suggested that Nine Inch Nails will stop touring after their current run of shows.

The frontman shared the update while on stage in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday night (February 27) as part of their huge ‘Peel It Back’ tour.
Midway through the set at the BOK Center, the industrial rock icon took some time to talk to the audience and look back at one of the memories he made in the city during the band’s early days.
“One of the first times we played here, maybe it was Cain’s Ballroom, like 80 years ago… we were playing ‘Head Like a Hole,’ and I could see someone in the back screaming the f*****’ lyrics back at me, and I thought, ‘This is all I ever wanted in life, is to connect with somebody like that dude’. Anyway, that’s what I think of when I roll into Tulsa.”
He then seemed to casually drop some major news, adding: “I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now. And I’m f****** grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight.”
While time will tell if the 2025/2026 ‘Peel It Back’ tour will be the last from Trent Reznor and co., it is worth noting that the band have suggested that they are ready to quit touring before – but have, so far, always gone on to hit the road again.
Back in 2009, for instance, the band told fans that their ‘Wave Goodbye’ tour would be their last, however went on to return to the stage again in 2013. Fans on Reddit have also recalled their memories of seeing the frontman make similar comments on stage over the past 15 years.
“I saw them at the final stop of their 2014 tour and he said it might be their last show ever. Seen them twice since then,” one fan shared on Reddit, while another seemed hopeful that the band will go on to announce another tour in the future: “Trent has said this in 2009 (and even had a whole branded Wave Goodbye “final” tour), then again in 2013, and in 2018, yet again in 2022 and now in 2026. He always says this mid-tour lol. The man will be back on the road again.”

There are still a handful of dates left on the 2026 US leg of the ‘Peel It Back’ tour, including a slot in Dallas tonight (Wednesday March 3), and further shows in Glendale, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and more throughout the month.
After the headline stops wrap up on March 16, the band will perform as Nine Inch Noize (joining forces with opening act Boys Noize) at Coachella on April 10 and 17. Visit here for remaining tickets.
Nine Inch Nails brought their ‘Peel It Back’ world tour to the UK and Europe last summer. Reviewing their performance at Mad Cool in Madrid last July, NME wrote: “Judging by their Mad Cool headline set, there is no question that the group won’t be meticulously maintaining their legacy over the next few decades. From the exquisite visuals (which, even in their calmest moments, still blow some of the biggest names out of the water) to their effortless on-stage rapport and the sheer quality of their live sound, this sensational outing is vintage Nails. Welcome back, guys. We’ve missed you.”
Since then, reports emerged late last year that the band was working on new music. In an interview with Consequence, Reznor said: “We are working on new stuff and we’re excited to work on it, and we are prioritising working on Nine Inch Nails over just taking on every single thing that comes up in the other category.”
The band’s last album was 2020’s double LP ‘Ghosts V-VI’, which was surprise-released as a free download during the pandemic. Since then, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have been busy working on various film scores, including Challengers, Empire of Light and TRON: Ares.
The latter was released in September, and recently the band shared a stacked digital companion piece called ‘Tron Ares: Divergence’. It featured 44-tracks, some of which were remixes and previously unreleased material.
