System Of A Down have announced a new 25th anniversary edition reissue of ‘Toxicity’, along with a merch capsule. Find all the details below.

The band are currently celebrating the milestone anniversary of their second studio album, which was released on September 4, 2001.

To commemorate the occasion, last week they unveiled an exclusive merch capsule, which includes vinyl and CDs, T-shirts, skate decks, ashtrays, and more.

The CD reissue features new cover artwork, as well as a correctly identified hidden track, which has previously been known to fans as ‘Arto’. Now, it’s been titled ‘Der Voghormia’, after a traditional Armenian hymn.

The vinyl reissue comes on a special colour edition along with a bonus 7” containing the song ‘Johnny’, which has previously only been available on rare special editions of the album.

Meanwhile, the merch collection includes a recreation of the 2001 album release party – which was famously shut down by police at the time – T-shirt given exclusively to attendees.

There are also ‘Chop Suey!’ Chinese takeout earrings, a compact mirror and a series of new T-shirt and hoodie designs. You can find all the merch, vinyl and CDs here.

System Of A Down have not released a studio album since 2005’s ‘Hypnotize’, and in 2024 Shavo Odadjian spoke to NME about what it would take for the band to release new material. “If I knew, I’d make it happen,” he said. “If it happens, we’ll all be at the right place, at the right time, in the right mood, at the right juncture in life.”

NME gave a glowing five-star review of System Of A Down’s recent gig at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, writing that the band “ultimately defy and redefine what stadium rock is and can be.”

In other news, frontman Serj Tankian has suggested that drummer John Dolmayan no longer supports US President Donald Trump.
