Widow’s Bay and King Of The Hill star Stephen Root has finally confirmed that he’s part of the cast for Grand Theft Auto 6 after months of speculation.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch November 19. Rockstar Games have given fans an in-depth look at main protagonists Lucia and Jason, as well as a range of supporting characters, but they’re yet to confirm which actors are behind the roles.

However over the weekend, Stephen Root was asked about his involvement in Grand Theft Auto 6 during a red carpet appearance.

“Yeah, you’re going to see me in it,” he told AP News. “It’s coming out November 19, that’s the latest [news] I know of. But I think from the first rollout, maybe almost a year ago now, they had my character in there. Too many people know me and my voice from King Of The Hill, so I think that secret got divulged then.”

Root went on to say that the experience of working on Grand Theft Auto 6 was a whole different ball game to what he’s used to doing. “I’m so happy to be involved in it, it’s an amazing thing to look at,” he added.

Root plays Brian Heder in Grand Theft Auto 6. The character was first revealed during Trailer 2, which launched May 2025, and fans have been speculating about his involvement ever since.

“Brian’s a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys,” reads a description from Rockstar Games. “Still moving product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori, Brian’s been around long enough to let others do his dirty work. Brian’s letting Jason live rent-free at one of his properties — so long as he helps with local shakedowns, and stops by for Lori’s sangria once in a while.”

Grand Theft Auto fans believe the voice actor for co-protagonist Lucia is Puerto Rican actor Manni L Perez. Perez is best known for starring as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’s Esperanza Morales and has also worked with Rockstar Games on the 2019 Diamond and Casino & Resort update for Grand Theft Auto Online, voicing an unnamed blackjack dealer. Last year she said she was working on something “big” but couldn’t reveal any more about it due to “non-disclosure agreements”.

There have been several rumoured names for Jason’s actor, including Gregory Connors and Jake Silbermann but fans believe Dylan Rourke (Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family) is the most likely due to their physical similarities and an unnamed motion-capture project on his CV. However nothing has been confirmed by Grand Theft Auto 6‘s team.

In other news, Blizzard Entertainment’s BlizzCon 2026 took place over the weekend and featured some big announcements about beloved gaming franchises including the future of Diablo, World Of Warcraft and StarCraft.
