Oasis’ Noel and Liam Gallagher have reacted after their beloved Manchester City were reportedly found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League.
Reports emerged yesterday (September 25) that the commission hearing the long-running case had ruled against City on all but one of the alleged breaches. No punishment has yet been decided for the club, who maintain their innocence and are expected to appeal the verdict.
Noel has now discussed the news on Manchester City podcast Let Me Talk, admitting he was taken aback after years of assurances from the club that they had done nothing wrong.
He described hearing the verdict as “a bit of a shock”, adding that he felt “sad for the fans and for the players”.
Asked whether the ruling changed how he viewed iconic moments in the club’s recent history – including Sergio Agüero’s last-gasp goal that secured the 2011/12 Premier League title – Noel said supporters could only judge what they had witnessed on the pitch.
“Does it taint it? I suppose in the eyes of everybody else in England it would,” he said. “But I know what I saw and I know what I felt.”
In a separate interview with The Athletic, Gallagher reiterated his loyalty to the club, saying he would continue supporting City regardless of what punishment may eventually follow.
Liam took a characteristically more combative approach on X. Responding to journalist Ben Jacobs reporting that City had been found guilty of 114 charges, he wrote: “Get your OASIS tickets bought and stop talking out your f****** a*** you SPUNKBUBBLE.”

He followed that simply with “CTID” – an abbreviation of “City Till I Die”.

The Premier League referred Manchester City to an independent commission in February 2023 following a four-year investigation. Among the most serious allegations were claims that City did not provide a true and fair picture of their revenue, including sponsorship income, and failed to disclose the full remuneration paid to players and managers.
Following yesterday’s reports, the club said: “The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality.”
Should the reported findings survive City’s expected appeal, the punishments available range from fines and points deductions through to expulsion from the Premier League.
Both Gallagher brothers have long been among City’s most prominent celebrity supporters, having followed the club since their childhood in Burnage.
Earlier this year, they celebrated together at Wembley after City beat Arsenal 2-0 to win the Carabao Cup. Noel later revealed that Liam had been on “spectacular form” in their “boozy box”.
Noel’s ties to the club also extend beyond the stands. He designed the font used on City’s 2024/25 cup kits and collaborated with the club on a ‘Definitely Maybe’-inspired ‘Definitely City’ collection.
The news arrives during a particularly busy week for Oasis. Tickets are currently going on sale for their enormous ‘Live ’27’ tour, which includes 11 shows at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium next June.
Fans reported a considerably smoother ticket-buying experience yesterday than during the infamous original reunion sale, with further allocated ticket windows running throughout today and tomorrow (September 27).
The band have also added extra Knebworth, Munich and Rome dates due to “phenomenal demand”.
Noel recently explained that they decided to tour again after the second Wembley date of ‘Live ’25’, saying: “We were having such a great time… why wouldn’t we?”
He has ruled out new Oasis music for the time being, but promised that the 2027 shows will be “so much better” than their reunion run.
Liam, meanwhile, recently warned that although ‘Live ’27’ is not being billed as a farewell tour, “it still could be our last”.
The dates follow the release of the new reunion documentary Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, which arrived in cinemas earlier this month and chronicles the brothers’ reconciliation and the ‘Live ’25’ comeback.
