Liam Gallagher has suggested Oasis will discuss making new music after their upcoming ‘Live ’27’ tour, saying he “can’t see” the band touring again without fresh material.
The frontman made the comments on X yesterday (September 28), after a fan responded to a post about the Manchester band’s reunion by urging them to “write some new tunes while you’re at it”.
“Listen if all goes well with the tour I guess nxt step is to have a chat about new music,” Gallagher replied. “Can’t see us touring again unless we have new music does that make sense Rasta.”

The comment represents the strongest indication yet that new Oasis material could at least be discussed once ‘Live ’27’ is over, although Gallagher stopped short of saying that any songs are currently being written or recorded by the band.
It also comes just two weeks after his brother Noel Gallagher appeared to rule out new music arriving alongside the ‘Live ’27’ shows.
Asked about the possibility when the tour was announced earlier this month, Noel simply replied: “There won’t be any new music.”
Liam had expressed similar reservations in July. When one fan pleaded with him for a new Oasis album, he joked that he was not prepared for the pressure unless it could “sell 100 million copies in the 1st hour”, “cure bad breath and constipation for the nation” and “turn back time for Cher”.
“Let’s just do some gigs and be happy thank you,” he added.
There have nevertheless been continued signs that Noel is writing and recording. Last month, Johnny Marr said the songwriter was “writing songs for fun” and “recording songs”, although he did not know whether the material was intended for Oasis, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds or another project.
Any new Oasis record would be their first studio album since 2008’s ‘Dig Out Your Soul’. Liam famously stirred speculation shortly after the reunion was announced in 2024 by claiming a new album was already “finished” and that he had been “blown away” by Noel’s songs, before later admitting that he had been “f****** joking”.
The latest comments also add another wrinkle to Liam’s recent statements about the band’s future beyond 2027. Last week, he said ‘Live ’27’ “isn’t a farewell tour but it still could be our last”, telling fans: “This could be the last time so get involved.”
Noel was similarly non-committal when asked whether he could imagine Oasis continuing after the upcoming run, responding: “I don’t know.”
The ‘Live ’27’ tour was announced on September 14 after months of speculation. Noel revealed that the band had decided to head out again following their second Wembley show on the ‘Live ’25’ tour in July 2025, explaining: “We were having such a great time… why wouldn’t we?”
The run was subsequently expanded due to “phenomenal demand”, and all 42 dates have now sold out. The tour includes five nights at Glasgow’s Celtic Park, 11 at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, six at Knebworth, two at Slane Castle and dates across mainland Europe and the US.
Noel has already promised that the shows will be “so much better” than the 2025 reunion tour, saying the band will be “way more relaxed” second time around.
In NME’s five-star review of the opening night of the ‘Live ’25’ tour in Cardiff, Andrew Trendell wrote: “This is all you ever would have wanted from Oasis in 2025: they look cool, sound f****** amazing, and they want to be here.”
The reunion has also been documented in Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, which arrived in cinemas earlier this month and captures the brothers rebuilding their relationship and undertaking the comeback tour.
It has now been confirmed that the film will arrive on Disney+ with “exclusive unseen footage” on October 9.
