Snayx announce debut album ‘Greed’ and take on “manosphere misogynists” with scathing single ‘Gold Star’

“We figured it was better to experiment and see what we could get away with than try and play it safe” The post Snayx announce debut album ‘Greed’ and take on “manosphere misogynists” with scathing single ‘Gold Star’ appeared first on NME.

Snayx have announced their highly anticipated debut album ‘Greed’ – check out the experimental new single ‘Gold Star’ below which tackles “manosphere misogynists”.

Set to arrive on February 19 via Nettwerk Music Group, the new record marks the first full album from the alt-punk trio, and is set to feature previously released singles ‘Lost Cause’, ‘Nice Day 4 It’, ‘Strut’ and ‘Brain Cellz’. Pre-order here.

Across the 13 songs, the rising Brighton band explore the different ways in which people are always wanting more, whether it be through money, power, status, attention, pleasure, possessions or love.

It also sees them call out issues including social media addiction, self-destructive behaviour and extreme wealth, and work to push beyond the punk-inspired sound that first put them on the map as ones to watch.

Alongside their usual industrial punk inflexions and riff-driven melodies, Snayx are also introducing elements of electronica, psychedelia and more, which they honed in on by working with Tigercub’s Jamie Hall and Spencer Tobias-Williams of NOISY.

Today (Thursday October 15) to accompany the album announcement, the band have dropped the scathing single ‘Gold Star’, which they co-wrote alongside Jordan Fish (Bring Me The Horizon, Poppy, Architects).

On the blistering track, the band don’t hold back when it comes to calling out performative wealth and those self-appointed lifestyle gurus online who think money comes as a substitute for personality.

“It’s about that guy we’ve all seen flashing their cash at the bar and preaching about work ethic,” they shared. “He’s that ‘manosphere’ misogynist screaming about lifestyle and the grind, buying his friends and followers because they’re so inherently unlikable.

“Well done, you drive a nice car and got a round in, but that doesn’t make you any less insufferable.”

As for the album as a whole, the diverse sound looks to pay homage to the artists who have inspired Snayx, ranging from Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode, through to The Chemical Brothers and Basement Jaxx.

“We’ve all just found such joy in those artists, and we wanted to share that but also put our unique SNAYX spin on it,” said frontman Charlie Herridge. “We figured it was better to experiment and see what we could get away with than try and play it safe,” added drummer Elaina “Lainey” Loops.

As for the experimental aspect of the record, bassist Ollie Horner shared: “ wanted to show real maturity in what we could do. I wanted to be taken more seriously as a songwriter. But there were so many ideas, so many great riffs.”

The ‘Greed’ tracklist is:

‘Violence’
‘Wasted Again’
‘Go With You’
‘Gold Star’
‘Lost Cause’
‘Everything (Interlude)’
‘Brain Cellz’
‘Mouthfeel’
‘Nice Day 4 It’
‘Strut’
‘Soul 2 Sell’
‘Sunshine’
‘Good Life’

The album announcement comes as the band are set to hit the road next year, and will kick off their UK and European headline tour next March. Dates kick off in Newcastle, and include shows at London’s Scala and Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club.

European shows commence in May, and run through to May 22 with a closing show in Oslo. Visit here for tickets, which go on sale tomorrow (Friday October 16) at 10am BST.

Snayx were listed on the NME 100 for artists to watch in 2025, and praised as “mixing stomping Brit-punk with harsh, blunt lyricism”.

“Snayx have been gradually building a dedicated following all over the UK through word-of-mouth buzz around their rampaging live show,” the entry read.

“They might not have a guitarist, but they don’t need one: Ollie Horner’s bass tone can shatter your eardrums on its own. Whether it’s hitting out against police abuse (‘Boys In Blue’) or political doom and gloom (‘Sink Or Swim’), Snayx make sure they shout the loudest – and have heaps of fun in the process.”
