Christine And The The Queens makes funky return with new single ‘Rendez-vous Avec Toi’: “The electricity remains eternally mysterious”

The French singer will return to the stage next month, promising fans "a first listen to unreleased songs from the next album" The post Christine And The The Queens makes funky return with new single ‘Rendez-vous Avec Toi’: “The electricity remains eternally mysterious” appeared first on NME.

Christine And The Queens has returned with a brand-new single – listen to ‘Rendez-vous Avec Toi’ below.

The French singer announced the funky track last week, while confirming four special underplay shows in Brussels, London, Amsterdam and Paris for next month.

“Dear comrades, I’ve missed you,” Chris wrote on social media. “Back on stage for four very special shows. A moment of live music, shared together, before the next journey begins.”

His new chapter begins today (Wednesday November 4) with the release of the groovy, disco-tinged banger ‘Rendez-vous Avec Toi’. The tune explores giving in to desire and tenderness, recalling the night lovers find each other again.

“I have a rendez-vous with you, tonight. I have obsessed about it since the morning,” Chris explained of the song. “With the devotion of someone who only waits for you, and the meaning you give to life itself by your mere presence.”

He went on: “I’ll come starred with music – the new interstellar travelling of Christine And The Queens, I did it for you. In secrecy of frequencies, in genius musicians, in New York Jazz, in Moroder Groove, I kept on obsessing about this celebration, this big night found again, and I leapt into my dream.

“Names, boxes, they never defined what we share together. The electricity remains eternally mysterious. We’ll dream together of the blue flower, of this signal that keeps pinging from another planet that we don’t even know of yet; we’ll dream peace, peace with a common story, one way bigger than the one they taught us.”

The single arrives in both French (‘Rendez-vous Avec Toi’) and English (‘Rendez-vous In Your Arms’). It is accompanied by a joyous video shot in Paris, co-directed by Christine And The Queens and Raphaël De Albuquerque, with choreography by Alexander Ekman.

The latest studio album from Christine And The Queens was 2023’s ‘Paranoïa, Angels, True Love’. However, the artist did release the record ‘Hopecore’ in 2024 under the moniker Rahim Redcar.

Speaking about his forthcoming small gigs in the UK and Europe, which are now sold out, Chris shared: “The shows with my audience are the highlights of my life. My musicians – Vincent Taeger, Vincent Taurelle, Adrian Edeline and Karl Onibuje – and I knew we had to reunite with our audience before anything else, in more intimate venues, for a true moment of music played live, felt and shared.

“We will revisit a repertoire that made us grow together, and give a first listen to unreleased songs from the next album. We revisit, we reinterpret, we remember, and we transcend.”

Details of Christine And The Queens’ next LP currently remain under wraps. Recently, the singer began hinting at a comeback by wiping his social media channels and posting photos from the recording studio. “Folks, we cooked it enough,” the caption read. “I think it’s time we play you the music. Stay tuned for more, and soon!”

In January, the artist joined forces with Thee Diane for the single ‘Ah Ya’, having previously performed it together at Paris’ Centre Pompidou. Thee Diane appeared on the cover artwork for Christine And The Queens’ 2022 album ‘Redcar Les Adorables Étoiles’.

Before then, Chris played in the French capital in autumn 2025, breaking out some of his tracks for the first time in six years. Earlier that year, he accused Lorde of copying him “without crediting me as an inspiration”.
