Boy Kill Boy have hinted that they will be reuniting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album ‘Civilian’.
The British indie rock band – led by lead singer Chris Peck and known for their live shows – officially split up back in 2008, shortly after the release of their second album ‘Stars And The Sea’.
They reunited briefly for two live shows in 2016, celebrating 10 years of their debut album ‘Civilian’, and then did one standalone gig in 2018 at London’s Oslo. Now, it looks like another reunion is on the way and will be happening in time for the 20th anniversary of their debut album
The teaser was shared on their official Instagram page, and saw Peck talking to fans and addressing hopes of a reunion. He began by saying how unlikely it felt, given each member being busy in different parts of the country, before “coincidentally” bumping into all of his bandmates during the clip.
“Walking past Kings Cross got me thinking about gigs and how I should get in touch,” he began.
“There’s been a bit of talk about whether we’re going to do a 20 year reunion. The chances of us getting together are sadly quite minimal, because everyone is basically doing different things all over the shop,” he added, before bumping into keyboardist Pete Carr.
“I was just saying about how hard it is getting together–” he continued in the video, before stopping abruptly because he bumped into his other bandmates.
“I don’t really know what to say anymore… We’ll be in touch,” he quipped at the end, hinting at an imminent announcement on the way.
‘Civilian’ reached Number 16 on the UK albums charts when it first arrived back in 2006, and contained their biggest hits ‘Suzie’ and ‘Back Again’. Both landed on the Top 40 and featured in the FIFA 07 and Test Drive Unlimited soundtracks.
‘Stars And The Sea’ performed less well on the charts and landed at Number 98 in 2008, despite being made with Oasis producer Dave Sardy.
Since their split, Peck pursued a solo career, sharing demos on Soundcloud and continuing to play live. Carr moved into management and worked with artists including Charli XCX, as well as touring as the keyboardist for Marina and the Diamonds. Bassist Kev Chase continued work as a session musician and a DJ.
