Nigel Farage says he would use the military in the Channel but there are questions about whether the plan would work
The Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage, whose summer has been dominated by the Guardian’s disclosure of a £5m undeclared gift and his connections with a fraudster, emerged on Monday to claim that his party would launch the “largest military operation in the English Channel since world war two” to prevent small boat crossings.
Pointing to unrest at the Spain-Morocco border, he said the Royal Navy would be sent to the Channel to intercept all dinghies carrying asylum seekers should his party win power at the next general election.
