The stars of Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopics have been spotted recreating the iconic ‘Abbey Road’ album cover.

The 1969 cover shows John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney and George Harrison walking across a pedestrian crossing in single file outside the studio where the album was famously recorded.

Yesterday (August 16) footage shot by fans was posted on social media showing actors Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan, Paul Mescal and Joseph Quinn dressed identically to how the band appeared on the original cover. You can view footage below.

In another shot Quinn, who plays Harrison, can be seen crossing the road on his own while his co-stars walk past.

The four-film series about the Fab Four, The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, is currently scheduled for a simultaneous release on April 7, 2028.

Mendes will direct all four films, one for each member of the band. Earlier this year, the first official images of the actors in character were released.

They will also be the first-ever movies to be granted music rights to the Beatles’ discography.

The likes of David Morrissey, Leanne Best, Bobby Schofield and James Norton joined the cast at the end of last year. Other actors set to star in the films include Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood and Mia McKenna-Bruce, who are playing Linda McCartney, Yoko Ono, Pattie Boyd and Maureen Starkey, respectively.

Mescal, who plays McCartney previously said fans would “benefit from knowing as little as possible” about the biopics before watching them. The actor explained that he and his co-stars were “pinching ourselves” over being involved in the films.

“I think the endeavour is totally singular,” he added at the time. “On a personal level, I’m so thrilled to be working on something at this scale, but also rooted in performance with Sam and great writers.”

Mescal went on: “But also just to be living and working in London and to have some sort of stability in what has been like a kind of mad six, seven years since Normal People came out.”

He previously revealed that he’d be doing his own singing for the role and had spent time with McCartney to prepare.

Keoghan also recently spoke about the biopics adding: “It’s going to be an event and you know and we knew that coming on board. What an exciting event to be part of, and no better filmmaker to do it than Sam, you know, so I’m having an absolute fucking brilliant time and elevating my craft and, you know, making brothers as well on set.”

Meanwhile, McCartney recently described his new Beatles biopic counterpart Paul Mescal as “very cute”.
