Liam Gallagher has said Fontaines D.C. “are not good enough” to open for Oasis on their upcoming ‘Live ’27’ tour.

The Irish band launched their new album ‘Dopamine Chamber’ yesterday (October 16) and previewed it with at an intimate gig at London’s Roundhouse the night before (October 15).

Previously, Carlos O’Connell said they “couldn’t really give a s***” about the Oasis reunion in 2024 and Conor Deegan III added: “I’m not excited about it either, to be honest. I feel like we get caught in the last era – like the ’10s – and into such a nostalgic thing that we’re forgetting to make new things.

“I feel like what we were wanting to do with this record [‘Romance’] anyway was to look into the future and make new things… So for Oasis to reform at this moment for us is really annoying.”

This prompted Gallagher to respond to a fan who asked if the band would be considered as an opening act for Oasis’ ‘Live ’25’ tour: “F*** them little spunkbubbles I’ve seen better dressed ROADIES.”

“They look like a s*** EMF,” he added in a separate tweet, as well as responding to another fan who forwarded a clip from the interview over. “State of em,” he wrote.

While Deegan and O’Connell weren’t too enthusiastic about the Britpop icons getting back together at the time, the band’s frontman Grian Chatten made it clear that he didn’t share the same stance.

Posting a comment on one of NME‘s Instagram posts at the time, the vocalist wrote: “I love Oasis. This is not my opinion”.

Now, when a fan asked again why don’t Oasis book Fontaines to open up for them on their upcoming ‘Live ’27’ tour, Gallagher replied: “There not good enough they don’t have any tunes.”

NME has contacted a spokesperson for Fontaines D.C. for comment.

The ‘Live ’27’ tour was announced on September 14 after months of speculation. Noel Gallagher revealed that the band had decided to head out again following their second Wembley show on the ‘Live ’25’ tour in July 2025, explaining: “We were having such a great time… why wouldn’t we?”

The run was subsequently expanded due to “phenomenal demand”, and all 42 dates have now sold out. The tour includes five nights at Glasgow’s Celtic Park, 11 at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, six at Knebworth, two at Slane Castle and dates across mainland Europe and the US.

Noel has already promised that the shows will be “so much better” than the 2025 reunion tour, saying the band will be “way more relaxed” second time around.

So far only Richard Ashcroft has been confirmed as support at all of their forthcoming shows. He previously joined them on their Live ’25 UK dates.

Meanwhile, Fontaines D.C. recently opened up about their “very tough year” at their show at the Roundhouse earlier this week.

Appearing to refer to the death of manager Trevor Dietz, who passed away in June, Chatten told the crowd: “It’s been a very tough year for us. I’d like to sing you this song.” The group then proceeded to perform ‘Favourite’, a single from their last album, 2023’s ‘Romance’.

In a five-star review of ‘Dopamine Chamber’, NME’s Andrew Trendell wrote: “The biggest Irish band since U2 have now also secured themselves as the definitive band of this decade on ‘Dopamine Chamber’ – an extraordinary record for extraordinary times. Amidst all the hiss and the decay, Fontaines have made something pure, honest and feeling while in exhilarating motion. Now you see who they are.”

Filmed at Alexandra Palace this week, a Fontaines special of Later… With Jools Holland will air in November with the intimate set hitting via iPlayer next week.
