Post Malone has shocked and thrilled fans of Magic: The Gathering by actually playing his ludicrously valuable The One Ring card.
The chart-topping singer-rapper paid a rumoured $2 million (£1.5 million) for the card back in 2023, a figure that reflects its extreme rarity – it’s the only one of its kind in existence, and was pulled at random three years ago by a lucky player in Whitby, Ontario.
Post Malone has, presumably, kept the card under lock and key ever since. However, during his recent appearance on The Command Zone’s Game Knights, he drew gasps from his fellow players by taking the card out of its “obnoxious” protective box and actually laying it on the table.
You can watch this jaw-dropping moment below.
After Post Malone plays the bespoke card, the show’s incredulous co-host Rachel Weeks tries to explain its significance. “For those who didn’t hear about The One Ring somehow, this is the rarest, most exclusive card ever printed in Magic history,” she says. “There’s one of this. It should be in a museum or in a vault.”
Meanwhile, her co-host Josh Lee Kwai says he feels “very concerned” about Post Malone’s decision to play The One Ring because “our insurance doesn’t cover that card”.
Post Malone is a longtime fan of Magic: The Gathering and often collaborates with Wizards of the Coast to promote the trading card game. Back in 2023, he purchased The One Ring card from Brook Trafton, a Canadian retail worker who pulled it entirely by chance.
Trafton said at the time: “I have played MTG since I was a kid and obviously it would be amazing to keep this card. But for a guy like me, being able to sell it is life-changing. I just really hoped it would go to someone who would appreciate it as much as I do.”
