Liam Gallagher says Pretty Green was “stolen” from him by “vultures”

Liam Gallagher has claimed that his Pretty Green clothing brand was “stolen” from him by “vultures”.

The Oasis frontman founded the menswear label in 2009, with its name coming from the 1980 song of the same name by The Jam.

He responded to an X user yesterday (August 15) who asked him why he sold the brand, writing: “I didn’t sell it it was stolen from me by vultures who wouldn’t know how to dress a fucking salad let alone the youth.”

Gallagher did not spell out who he was referring to as “vultures”.

Pretty Green was bought by JD Sports after falling into administration in 2019, with the sale being handled by administrators. The company had been impacted by the collapse of House Of Fraser the previous year, and it was later sold to Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group as part of a £47.5million collection of fashion brands in 2022 (via The Guardian).

Gallagher previously spoke about his departure from Pretty Green last year, when a fan asked if he was still involved with the label.

“Not been involved for years as some clowns who worked for them got 2 big for there boots and was disrespectful so I had to scarper bfore I got into trouble,” he said.

His new comments come just days after Oasis launched a new clothing range to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their legendary Knebworth shows. The collection includes replicas of Liam’s distinctive Umbro zip-up jacket and Noel’s knitted jumper from the 1996 shows.

After the enormous ‘Live ’25’ reunion tour last year, speculation continues to swirl about the possibility of more live performances from the band. They are reportedly considering a major UK and European tour next year, potentially including a Manchester residency and a return to Knebworth.

Earlier this month, the promoter behind ‘Live ’25’ was granted a licence to hold concerts at the Hertfordshire estate, although nothing has yet been confirmed.

Liam has poured cold water on the chances of new music from Oasis, though. Responding to a fan last month, he said: “NO I’m just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the 1st hour cure bad breath and constipation for the nation if it doesn’t turn back time for Cher and some other shit let’s just do some gigs and be happy thank you.”

Fans will get an inside look at the reunion tour with the documentary Don’t Look Back In Anger, which will be released in cinemas and IMAX on September 11 before later hitting streaming.
