Pulp announce one-off hometown pop-up at Hallamshire Hotel to celebrate Sheffield Walk Of Fame

“People of Sheffield - do you know what time it is? It is time to have fun” The post Pulp announce one-off hometown pop-up at Hallamshire Hotel to celebrate Sheffield Walk Of Fame appeared first on NME.

Pulp have announced a one-off pop-up taking place later this week at Hallamshire Hotel, celebrating their name being added to the Sheffield Walk Of Fame.

The homecoming event will see the band taking over the Hallamshire Hotel on West
Street all day on October 30 to celebrate them being added to the Sheffield Walk Of Fame outside the Town Hall – joining names including Gordon Banks, Joe C*****, Jessica Ennis and Sean Bean.

To mark the occasion, the indie icons are holding a special pop-up event nearby. It will see Nick Banks and Candida Doyle visit the Hallamshire Hotel to take part in a special meet and greet from midday until 1pm, and the pub will also be decorated in posters and artwork from the Pulp vault.

A pop-up shop will also be available in the venue that will sell an exclusive range of limited edition t-shirts, posters, records and more. It will be open from 12pm until 8pm, or until stock sells out.

At 2pm, Pulp are added to the Walk Of Fame, and the pop-up will take place just around the corner on West Street.

“People of Sheffield – do you know where the Town Hall is? People of Sheffield – do you know what time it is? It is time to have fun,” said frontman Jarvis C*****, who also added that the Hallamshire Hotel was the site of Pulp’s first ever pub gig back in August 1980.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness PULP being honoured in their home-town AND celebrate afterwards in the venue that they have played at the most number of times during their 46 year career,” he added. “And it’s (nearly) Halloween. What are you waiting for? Put the Party of the Year in your diary right now.”

A similar pop-up event took place earlier this summer, when the band took over Manchester’s Rat & Pigeon pub to accompany their their headlining show in the city’s Wythenshawe Park.

They also had limited edition merchandise there, as well as a Pulp quiz, raffle, karaoke and a fancy dress competition – all of which will also be taking place in Sheffield from 5:50pm on October 30.

The Sheffield pop-up event comes on the heels of Pulp dropping ‘More’ – their first album in 24 years – last summer, and later releasing a new concert film, What Do You Do For An Encore?, which captured their two sold-out shows at The O2 in London last summer.

Last month, Pulp spoke to us about the film, as well as the unique DNA and history of the band, and what the future holds for them.

“I think there is a future. The thing is, I don’t like to make pronouncements on the future because the whole thing about the future is you just don’t know what’s going to happen,” the frontman said.

“We did the album ‘More’, and making it was quite a pleasant experience; playing it has been good, so that’s an inspiration, but obviously it came after a 24-year gap. We just can’t do that anymore because I’ll be dead in 24 years. What will probably happen is that everybody is going to have a bit of a rest. Maybe I’ll ring people up towards the end of the year and say, ‘Shall we have a practice or something?’ We’ll just see what will happen.”

As for when to expect a new album, he said: “I don’t know. That’s the good thing about music: you don’t know where it’s going to take you, but hopefully it could take us somewhere good.”

C***** and co. were also shortlisted for the 2026 Mercury Prize alongside records by the likes of Suede, Jade, Kojey Radical, Nia Archives and Florence & The Machine, but ultimately lost to Raye’s ‘This Music May Contain Hope‘.
